I had Clam Win Anti-Virus installed on my laptop but it didn't catch a Trojan Horse from infecting my computer. Got a virus on my laptop last night. In the past I used Macafee (sp?) but it would never catch my "test" viruses, therefore I switched over to Clam Win. The bad thing about Clam Win, it's not a real-time scanner but it does manage to identify and handle those viruses. Just curious what Anit-Virus softwares other PIN Stack members are using.

    Re: Virus

As far as security, I use Ad-Aware, Eusing, Ad-Watch and some other firewall that I can't remember the name of because I went one day and hid it so that noone could see it but don't remember where I put it...And it doesnt show up in my add/remove programs...I love it when I do something and forget how I did it and can't get back to something...If that makes any sense...

    BTW, I hate mcafee

I hate Mcaffe also, I use Norton on the office desktop.

Probably should invest in Norton for my laptop also, but Norton didn't identify the "test" virus.

I'm frugal so I use AVG Free Edition for Viruses and Microsoft Antispyware Beta or the new name Windows Defender Beta for Spyware both are free and have worked for me for quite some time now.

    Re: Virus

I had HORRIBLE experiences with McAfee. It crashed TWO of my past computers. They were so badly affected I couldn't do anything but give them away (I could never get them running properly after that...even taking them to MicroCenter didn't help. My Compaq Presario kept getting constant viruses to the point that I couldn't even access the desktop without an error message).

    I use Sygate/Norton Personal Firewall.

Personally. I think F-Secure is the best catches everything I have thrown at it next I would go with panda pro(latest version). For trojans I use anti-trojan. for hacker attempts and like net attacks I prefer zone alarm pro which has a nice feature shows you where your attacker is located (displays ip and addy) but that's only good if they are not using an ip foward prog. My 2 cents

I also add my votes for hating McAffee and I use Norton antivirus.

I use to love Norton but after trying to uninstall it once and finding it was like trying to get rid of AOL. Thought I had it all removed and the auto updater poped up.
Use ZA Suite and Spybot and the NAT on my router.

I used Zone Alarm until we got new PCs. Our new Dells HATED Zone Alarm. We're already behind a router so not too worried about issues.

LOL...actually that was the only software that gave it a fit. Glad we only had the free copy...I would have been upset if I had paid for it and couldn't get it to work.
