    Question Windows Live Messenger

Apparently, Windows Live Messenger (aka: MSN Messenger) is an app available for BB handhelds (blackberry.com source).

Does anyone have this? Used it? Is there any way to extract that app and make it available?

I have registered for and downloaded BES express 4.1, but have not installed it yet. I'm not looking to replace my current BES, but I wanted to see how the server side actually works.

Is Windows Live Messenger included with BES express?

    --Snipped from Blackberry.com

    How To Get It

The BlackBerry Enterprise Instant Messaging device software will be distributed and installed with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server™ v4.1 software. BlackBerry Administrators will be able to push the client software to users over-the-air†. Purchase or upgrade to BlackBerry Enterprise Server v4.1 now.
    * Requires BlackBerry device software v3.8 or higher

I would almost GUARANTEE it's not included with BES express. I didn't come up with anything in a search though

Oh yeah, I've read all that. But the point here is this: Yahoo Messenger is available and free; Google Talk is available and free; but MSN Messenger is available, but not.

Someone somewhere ought to rip this app out of the BES package and make it available.

This is 1984 people! Throw off the shackles of oppression and BES control!

the nice thing with Windows Live Messager is that it handles yahoo now.
it also lets you talk to people on xbox live.

i got the old msn messager to work with communicating with xbox live and yahoo. so there might not be a need for windows live messager just yet.

    Re: Windows Live Messenger

Any updates regarding being able to download Windows Live Messenger? I have an 8800 with AT&T and I still get the message that your wireless service provider does not allow access to WLM for your device. Just wondered if this was just a AT&T thing.

    Thanks,

I get the same msg and im on t-mobile. Its funny that bb has created apps like this for us to use for free (our atleast through our "unlimited" data plans) but the carriers specifically block these programs. Its a load of crap IMO.

There is a workaround for yahoo messenger with external books d/lded from 3rd party.
Can't the same thing be done for MSN?
In addition there a few other programs that allows you to connect to msn but they cost $$

PS yahoo does not allow msn contacts on RIM Yahoo msnger.
