Will there ever be an OS upgrade for the 8820/8830?
I really wonder.
I'm trying to second guess the thinking at RIM or the service providers and all I can figure is that they are hoping that a lot of people will jump over to the Bold if they don't release an upgrade for these phones.
I realize that a lot of the gains to be had with the new OS are related to camera/video which the 88xx series lacks but that doesn't explain why a version of 4.5 was released for the 8800.
Thoughts? Inside info? Rumors?
The 8820 OS is found here - later for the 8830.

There have been a number of updates for both those devices
i was wondering is there and os upgrade for the 8820 for rogers wireless...cuz i was looking for it and they have it on the blackberry site which has 184.108.40.206 but each time i load it says that its still 220.127.116.11...so i was wondering wat was up with that??
Dube, do you still have the .37 OS on your PC?
Go to Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs (Programs and Features on Vista) and check for anything called BlackBerry Device Software.
If you have two 4.5 OS's on the PC, that'll cause upgrade problems.
aite i shall check and let u know wat happens
I am so annoyed with the lack of 4.5 for the 8830. It's seriously the last 8xxx device not to get it, and the others have had it for a while.
I feel your pain, brother.

it works fine, but there are some slight issues with using it.

Also, I have issues getting some software because sprint's mobile websites sees my device as unknown (presumably from the different useragent string) UNTIL THEY UPDATE IT.
