OS4.3 basically got renamed to OS4.5 for marketing purposes. So yes 4.5 is a new OS. 4.3 is the "OLD" 4.5.

4.5 is the latest. It is listed as 4.5 but actually shows up on the phone as 4.3.XX.... unless there has been a change I didn't notice. There are official releases all around the world available but you need to make sure if you do upgrade (provided it didn't already come preloaded on the unit) you use a CDMA version (one designed for the 8330).

Here's what we now have on our GSM devices with v4.5 that you should already have on your CDMA-based 8330 with v4.3:

    • BlackBerry Maps with Points of Interest (H)
    • Improved media player with playlist support and automatic playlist generation (H)
    • Voice note recording (H)
    • Video recording on Curve models (H)
    • Streaming support for YouTube and Sling Player (H)
    • Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
    • Native format attachment downloading (S)
    • HTML e-mails (S)
    • Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
    • Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
    • Searching the server for old e-mail messages (S)

What everyone else has said is correct, however I want to make it clear to Charlie here that 4.5 was not on your new bb because its the beta version and has not been officially released.

Ok, im really lost. 4.5 is 4.3, right? I have 4.3 on my phone so does that mean that i have 4.3 or 4.5. Or is 4.5 is still in beta??? And i have to wait for the official release?

And no, i dont want to try the beta on my phone.

Dude, you're cool. You already have what most of the rest of us are clamoring for with GSM devices! You don't needa go messing with anything on your device.

I disagree with that. I have two Sprint 8330's, and while I hav mostof what islisted on that list, the two main features that most people want are not included on either of my devices. I don't have te capability of HTML emails and I don't have DocsToGo. If we already had a version of 4.5, then why are there beta emails for the 8330 out there?

The following will not work with the 8330's 4.3:
    • Microsoft Office document editing with DocumentsToGo (H)
    • HTML e-mails (S)
    • Over-the-air device upgrades (S)
    • Free/busy calendar lookup (S)
