My sister has an 8830 on Verizon on BES. Can I upgrade her phone to 4.5 using desktop manager without messing up her phone? Will it mess up her email settings?

I believe you will have to enterprise activate the device after the upgrade. I am no expert but I am not sure if there are any BES policy's that would make a difference.

km is correct that you the device would have to be reactivated on the BES and if the IT Admin is not too thrilled about devices being upgrading like this, he will see what OS the device is running when it registers with the BES.

I am on an Exchange Server using BES and have been knocked off the server with each upgrade. The enterprise activation can be done remotely so if an upgrade poses a problem for IT, there should be no need for them to see that you've upgraded the device.

The EA can be done remotely but to reactivate on the BES you need a password or the EA has to be set to be reactivated by connecting to the DM.
