Smile Transferring files from a PC to a Blackberry

Hi, I'm new to the whole PDA idea and want to be able to send files from my pc to my bb via the usb connection. I don't have an internet connection w/ my bb yet and want to load some programs onto it. The 7100 isn't compatible with the latest bb os, which means I can't use the desktop manager to transfer files to my pda. Anyone wanna help?

    Thanks!

You can install programs using the desktop manager that came with the 7100. If you are with t-mobile, you can logging and download the latest desktop and firmware for your phone.

Are you referring to "Media Manager" on the desktop software? It will not allow me to transfer files this way - I'm pretty sure this is b/c I'm not running BB os 4.2.

Is there another way to transfer files?

    adidas69, welcome to PinStack.

You can download either Desktop Manager 4.2 or 4.1 from the Blackberry Desktop Download site.

Once downloaded and installed, you can use it to install compatible Applications on your 7100. As to files, you can't really download files like a PocketPC PDA, but you don't really need to unless you are talking about installing eOffice from dynoplex and then you can use it to download the files you need.

Okay, first thing - why are my posts showing up as the user "adidas69"??? My username is agudowski and I use a 7100!! I don't know who adidas69 is...

Second of all, I am running the latest versions of Desktop Manager (4.2). Specifically, how do I actually take a file from my pc and load it onto my BB and install the app?

If you are having issues with your username please contact "hayden", he is the site admin. What files are you trying to install to your BB, that will help us inform you the proper way to do so.

agudowski, Welcome (Back) to PinStack. Apparently you had to recreate a new user account. Glad you got both corrected.

I don't think there is an version of 4.2 for either the 7100 or the 7290. Which version of the Desktop Manager 4.2 did you install? Media Manager will not work with any device that doesn't have the HandHeld S/W 4.2 installed.
