Reinstalling official T-Mo 4.5 OS just for the heck of it??

    Hey guys,

So I did something really stupid earlier. I got a little carried away deleting apps from my BB (using my PC) to free up some space on my device memory. In the frenzy of deleting alot of .cod files, I deleted the BB original themes.....and emptied my Recycle Bin....yes, I know. STUPID*smacks forehead* . Now that I'm trying to install a 3rd Party Theme using Application Loader, it wont show up in Options/Theme. After much research, I find that 3rd Party Themes will not show up if any of the original BB themes are deleted.

Sooooooooo, I've decided to reinstall the whole 4.5 OS from T-Mobile in the hopes I might get back those original themes. I just needed to know the best approach to doing this, if it's even possible.

    I was thinking:
    1. Dont touch my phone.
    2. Delete the 4.5 OS from Programs and Features in my PC's Control Panel.
3.Go to the T-Mo site and download the 4.5 upgrade.
    4. Install it again?

If anyone knows a better way, I would certainly appreciate it!

All you need to do is wipe your phone and reinstall. DM should pick it up after the wipe and reinstall it from the OS already on your pc.

No, not corrupt.....just missing the BB original Themes files. Hehe.

I'm not going to do it yet, but if I had to wipe my phone, how do I do this?

Us JL_Cmder you can learn how it works here http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...ml#comment1785

Also you can go here to read on how to reinstall http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...9/index27.html this one says nothing about wiping but its a good idea. also alot of people say to make sure and take out your mem card before reinstall.

Since you are using your actual carriers OS you wont need to delete vender.xml like it says that is for non carrier OS.

Ok I read up the wiping process, but if I wipe my phone, it deletes EVERYTHING? or just the OS. Like what is left on the phone after I've wiped it?

It wipes everything. As long as you do a backup with DM you get most everything back with a few exceptions. Address book etc..

Good question you might think about updateing your profile so everyone knows what you are using and it makes it easier to help you.

Well, turns out I didn't need to wipe the phone! I reinstalled the OS without doing anything to the phone and everything is back to normal, or so it seems. Hehe.

Thanks alot for helping though!! I appreciate it!

fiveseven, how did you "reinstall" the OS? Did you do it with DM? I lost my "sample photos" although i know I didn't delete them. I tried to check the box in the "application loader" in DM and have it reinstall but I did that twice now and they still aren't there.
