    POP3 email

    Hi all,

I'm pretty new here and already liking it!

I have a Vodafone (NL) 8707v Blackberry with BES enabled.
So I receive my corporate email on my BB.

I have my own domain and use my domain email (pop3) for personal use.
Is there an application which can receive pop3 mail on my Blackberry?
So I'm looking for an (3rd party) application that can send/receive my pop3 mails without affecting my corporate mailbox (on the BB).

I heard about emailviewer from ReqWireless but I cannot download it anymore from their site...
Is it somewhere hosted so I can still download it? Or are there any other applications?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: POP3 email

Since you're on BES with your company, they may she placed download as well as other restrictions on your BB. Hence, why you were unable to download from reqwireless.

    Thanks cp6169!

    @phillyslix
The problem is that the Reqwireless site does not host the file anymore as they are bought out by Google...

    Re: POP3 email

Hi Panja, Not sure if this helps, but I use BES enabled 7130v on the Vodafone network for our company email.
We have also setup accounts at the mobileemail.vodafone.net site where you can register your device and setup email accounts that you want sending to your device. I've got mine set to send all my Hotmail account to my device. This actually puts an additional icon onto the device which is where all my pop3 mail goes to.
    All works well for us.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

Adding to above: you can use both BES and BIS on the same BlackBerry device!!

Just go to your carrier's BIS site and setup your device with an account.

You will be able to have up to 10 email accounts, POP3, IMAP, yahoo, or gmail, and a @yourcarrier.BlackBerry.net address as well for instant delivery.

I use this setup and it's slick and super easy to configure and use!

But once again, be sure that your BES doesn't restrict use of personal email.

    Re: POP3 email

    I tried registering @ mobileemail.vodafone.net & mobileemail.vodafone.nl but I got an error message:

    Account Set-up
Service does not belong to allowed services for this customer

Please ensure you have proceeded to the proper service provider's activation site, as specified within the provided documentation.

Contact Vodafone Netherlands at 1200 of 31654500100 for additional support.
So probably my company restricted the use of BIS...?

    Any other method?

I would verify with a live rep that you are using the correct BIS site, and then also verify that the rep cannot create an account for you.

The rep will (should) be able to determine if your BB is disbled from BIS on the BES.

Finally, query your company's BES administrator. If there is a blanket policy to restrict BIS use, perhaps you merely need to request to the right person to push a new policy to allow you to use the BIS.

    Re: POP3 email

After some searching I found out that our BES admin has not activated BIS so therefor I can not sign up.

So I can't receive emails from my home email address (pop3)...
Is there any other application like ReqWireless email viewer so I can check my pop3 mail?

    Re: POP3 email

Panja, Does you personal ISP have a email Webclient Site for viewing email over the internet? If so, and it doesn't use frames, you could uses that to read your personal email from your BB.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: POP3 email

I am on Vodaphone UK and use mobileemail.vodafone.net. I had to set this up through vodaphone which cost nothing and was done immediately. It works very well on all my pop3 accounts.

There is that new Google app, but it may only work in the US.

Panja: without BIS, it's likely not going to work, unless you forward all your personal email to your company address. It's not ideal, but it will work.

If personal email is that important to you, then get your own BlackBerry and carry two; many people do this.
