If you plan on using a BETA version of an Operating System or a version ... RIM Handheld OS forum

If you plan on using a BETA version of an Operating System or a version that is not officially released by your carrier, then expect to be playing Russian Roulette.
You may not experience any problems at all.
You may brick your device.
You may have some errors.
Again, unless you are VERY familiar with your BlackBerry and the way the OS runs, I don't recommend upgrading to anything that is not OFFICIALLY released for your device type.
Not that it makes any difference, as people will still upgrade to it, just know the risks you're taking before doing so.

Just tried to upgrade to .42 on my 8310. Got the JVM error 513. Can someone give me a link to the instructions on how to restore from this point? Thanks

^^^ What he said...
I have had Beta .10 .18 .28 .37 now .42..... I have had very limited issues, but others with the same device and OS level have had issues I never saw.
But that is the life of a beta.

Well for me... I've been using the .42 OS for 2days now and i see a few bugs here and there... i also see where the Beta OS's react very differently with the devices, some bugs that i experience others don't and vice-versa.... I'm using a 8320.... and my symptoms are:
1. Video works but not saving recorded clips nor is it responding to the Esc button command
2. Voice mail icon stuck to screen (even after Hard Rest)
3. Ring Volume seem to drop as it did with 188.8.131.52
But overall the OS is quite stable and Fast... being a Beta Bugs are expected so not too troubled about em... all 3 party Apps works seamlessly.... anticipating the Released version.... really don't mind the delay as i expect perfection in this New OS.

Been 24 hours with the new .42 on my 8320. So far so good, had to uninstall and reinstall Facebook app to work but after that its fine.
Other than that Wifi works great, only had a few times I dropped EDGE and I think that was actually due to the area I was in.

That didn't work. Any other ways?

If you're using the latest release, (.42) you should be pretty ok. No errors or problems I've found and I've have it for a couple days. I should note that I do not use any of the built in apps from AT&T, so I cannot speak on those. But I think that the 8310s generally don't have many problems, from what I've seen on the boards.
I have a BlackBerry and a WhiteApple. :)

I have seen on here that the 4.5 will be coming from AT&T sometime around the 20th-24th of this month-can anyone shed any light on this?
