Cool. Ok, I see in the Blackberry.alx file the additional themes. I can edit it to include my vendor id (and sorry for the stupid question) and save it. Now how can I load it? Do I need to scrub the 8700 and reload the OS?

    Re: OS 4.1.0.394 (8707 software)

So like two days I see I can install 4.1.0.309 (For Telstra I guess) on my 8700g, it worked and I love it, now what's the difference between that version and 4.1.0.394?

The Platform version is the radio (cellular and bluetooth) code loaded to the handheld (\GPRS\rim8700g.sfi or \UMTS\rim8707.bin). In other words, good luck loading the UMTS radio code to a GSM/EDGE device to update the package version.

As for what this version fixes over Telstra, likely nothing. It will be more of a novelty to upgrade, in my opinion, especially if you already have the Telstra OS installed. It adds the new Today themes from RIM/Vodafone, but you can install those on the Telstra OS w/o the requirement of this hybrid (Telstra radio code/Vodafone OS code) OS installation. If you simply want the Today themes, go here:

P.S. - My post count may be low here, but most people in the BB community know me as one of the moderators over at BBF (I'm bored and branching out). I think my reputation in the BB themes and BES communities gives me a bit of weight, just in case you were sceptical concerning the 3 posts I have on this forum (I'll start trying to share more, especially some of my more detailed how-to threads).

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I know who you are jibi. Welcome to Pinstack. If it weren't for you. I'd never have had any themes for my old 7290 with 4.0. :-)

Yea that's exactly why I reverted after testing back to the Telstra. More comfortable with an OS made with my hardware specs in mind. That being said, this is good practice to keep on top of these new releases as some day 4.2 OS will be out and who knows it may be for the 8707 first and then maybe I'd be willing to keep

Welcome to the Stack, jibi. Thanks for the tip you gave me a while back when I was having problems with the Zen theme and helping me figure out what went wrong. Works like a charm now.
