    Re: Options>Voice Mail =Uncaught exception

I was trying to add my VM password to the Voice Mail number ..( I have a 7130e) - click in the phone icon then click to options, then to Voice Mail ... one of the options is (was) edit.

I fat fingered the pause symbol ( got a plus sign instead) and now everytime it dials my VM is doesn't go through cause its 2 many digits.

Went back the same route to change it - but when I click on options - now it comes up with "Uncaught Exception: invalid text" ( obviosly doesn't like the plus sign). So I can't change the damn thing ... seems to be stuck in a loop.

Ok, yeah, that is new for me...

Gimme a second, I am going to go grab the 7290, that way if i screw up the voice mail, it won't be on the 8700....

What I did notice though is my voicemail number is nowhere near what my actual cell phone number is...One of you wireless employees want to explain that one to me?

Not sure if yours is set up like mine, but have you tried this:

Go to your Call log screen and press the trackwheel....

Scroll down to options, then go to voicemail on the list that pops up

Then just start from the back and press the delete button until you get to where you messed up, and then put the new info in from that point?

With Nextel I can account for the voicemail number being different that the cell phone number. Nextel has a general voicemail number, backdoor voicemail if you will. If you want to call someone and you dont want their phone to ring you can call their backdoor voicemail number. It will ask you for their phone number and then you can leave them a message. Some cell phones with Nextel will actually see this backdoor voicemail number, but most of them will see their own number. The backdoor voicemail number always ends with 6245 (mail). Example my backdoor voicemail number is (941) 628-6245, but my actual phone number is (941) 628 then something different.

Yep .... I think the Voice Mail number must be stored in NVR somewhere - cause there was no change.... of course now I'll probably have to head down to verizon to change it out as there doesn't seem to be "soft" way of resetting it - so much for RIM's jave code - it should have checked for unwanted characters before accepting the store.

Does anyone know if you can reset or EDIT the Voice mail number on a desktop and then reload it?

So (after 3 hours spend with a Verizon tech support) to close this out - what you need to do ... is completely reset the device ( in the advanced options) and then reload the service books....and then reload the time zone

Wow...That sounds like an awful lot of work just to reset a messed up entry for voice mail.
