    Lightbulb New OS

I am quit content with the OS (4.1.0.194) I have on my 8700c (Cingular). Everything works well and the applications are stable. Like any true nerd I always look a what seems to be "newer versions" of the OS i.e. Telstra's v4.1.0.371. for the 8700g.
If ain't broke don't fix it is my attitude in general, but would there be improved efficiencies? Would they work in my machine? Are these other versions machine specific ?

There is a link somewhere here, I think that it is under the "Handheld Software" forum, that explains how to upgrade to the 8707 Operating System...There are a few extra steps that you have to do in order to get it to work since they work on two different types of networks, but if you follow the directions there, you should be good.

Don't worry if you don't get it right the first time...It took Shawn (Pentace) and I a while to figure it out...Actually he was the one that was able to finally figure out what it took to get the upgrade recognizable...Anyways, we don't condone going in and doing this to your device, however, trust me when I say that if you mess up, we are here to help you getting back on the right track...we won't stray you wrong here...

    Re: New OS

The one thing that upgrading from Cingular's OS (4.1.0.194) is that all later verisions get rid of the need for SpeakerPhone Ringtone Volume workaround. Worth doing just for that.

    Hope this helps.
