Question I need help with upgrading my os!

So I have downloaded the proper updated OS for my BBP 8100, but I'm having problems getting it onto my bb!
I have been told i need to delete the file "vendor.xml" however that is nowhere to be found on my computer.
I tried going thru my Desktop Manager (which is the newest version) & the os update didn't come up. I also tried searching for it in my computer files & nothing... Its listed under my add/remove programs but its nowhere to be found!
    What do I do?

Do you know where the vendor.xml is located?

    Vendor XML File Location:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

    Copy that.

On your computer, double click on My Computer

In the address bar at the top where it says "my computer", delete that and paste the above line and hit enter.

Vendor.xml is located at the bottom.

If you do a windows search for "vendor.xml", you should come up with the file. If not, you didn't install the OS correctly.

Also, if you're installing the OS for your own carrier, there is no need to kill the vendor.xml file. Only if you're installing a different carriers OS. (I gather that since it didn't find the upgrade, you're not installing your own carrier's OS.)
    As always, just my opinion...

This is the folder where you will find the vendor file, however after you DL, you need to run / install the software onto your desktop

You need to INSTALL it on your PC after you Download...sounds like you are missing that step. Run the file you downloaded and see what happens....

Are you a partner as our versions don't install a vendor.xml?

The only other thing I can think of is that your Windows Explorer isn't showing you all the files. There is a setting where you can tell it to show you extensions of known file types as well as to not hide system files.

    Other than that, I'm stumped!
