You can wipe your data with a handheld wipe. That will not clear your operating system, for that you need either JL_Cmder or a simmilar application. Why do you want to remove your OS and why can you not use JL_Cmder?

^^ What Gary said, but to do a handheld wipe:

Options>Security Options>General Settings. Press BB menu button, Wipe Handheld.

Ok, im having problems installing JL_cmder to my PC... I hit the RUN key, then it tells me "youre about to install JL_cmder on your computer, are you sure you want to continue?" I hit YES, and nothing happens....

You can do it by going through application loader with the battery out of the device. When you do this it will go through deleting applications but when it gets to the "Wait for device initialization" it will fail to connect because there is no battery. You will then get the 507 error on your screen just like you would with jl_cmder

I personally haven't installed the official release because I have an 8310, but that seems to be the consensus that there is no difference between that and the beta.
