First (failed) attempt at loading 0s 4.2 on 7130c

I figured there was about a 0 percent chance of this working, but I just wanted to see what would happen.

I installed the 8100 os on my pc. Then I copied all of the .cod files from the "java" folder and pasted them into the 7130c java folder. I clicked "yes to all" when it asked my if I wanted to replace files with the same name.

I ran apploader and it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to 4.2. It began the os upgrade, but then I got called away for a meeting at work. When I came back to my desk, the apploader reported some sort of error and the device had a jvm error.

I got a little nervous, and, unfortunately I failed to record the specific errors.

Anyway, I replaced the .cod files in the 7130 java folder, reinstalled the os, restored from my backup, and everything works fine.

You got one of the 504 JVM errors or something right?

Yeah, but it was a higher number. 523 maybe. I'm kicking myself for it now, but like I said I got nervous and began to reinstall 4.1 before I recorded the error messages. I'm really kicking myself for not recorded the error message in the apploader because it may have related to a specific .cod file that I could have left alone.

I'll try it again when I have a chance. Unfortunately, screwing around with my blackberry is not my full time job.

    4.2 no worky yet.

I copied the 4.2 Java folder, .alx, .xml, and .pkg files into my 8700 folder and upgraded. Received a 507 error on my BB during installation and then a 506 after it rebooted. Then I received Unspecified Error (J:0x00000000A) in DM. Oh well, had to try.

uh, now how do I reset it? :-)

    Nevermind - reinstalling 4.1

    Anyone else having any luck?
