Is there any way to go downgrade an OS? I have the pearl with the 4.2.0.64 OS and I HATE the auto-dim. and I just found out that any new OS will have that feature. can i go back to the original OS?

you can but sometimes the device won't like it and it will kill the device. However if you want to try it you should be able to get the earlier software from your carrier/network

I have downgraded a few times. Try it and see what happens, worst case you will have to learn to live with the auto dim.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~can you just turn off the auto dim, there should be a setting for it in the screen and keyboard options?

simplexity, i have actually done this twice so far (VERY LONG STORY).
first and foremost, you must have a copy of the .42 OS. remember, it came ON your phone already. let me know if you need any help finding a reputable source to download it from.

    Re: Down-Grade

I actually do need somewhere to download it from. Besides changing that feature, I don't really see much of a difference in the os anyway. Would downgrading be that bad?

    Re: Down-Grade

well...i have now been using the .71 for a week. for the first couple of times i upgraded, i didn't give the autodim feature enough time to grow on me. now, since its been over a week, it doesn't bother me anymore.
downgrading to .42 will have an impact on sdcard. you will only be able to use a 1gb vs a 2gb.

    Re: Down-Grade

I have downgraded/upgraded/regraded/misgraded and any other graded you can think of on devices more than you could imagine, and it has never FUBAR'ed or killed a machine. These things are extremely hard to break or kill the OS on. Trust me, I have many people who can back me on my OS fetish. :-D

You will be okay. If something does happen, we are always here.
