*Confused, Beat and Official 4.5?? School me

Hey, im relatively new to this forum, and i've been lookin towards upgrading to 4.5 OS, currently my blackberry curve 8320 runs with 4.2.2.180 OS,

now i need some questions answered.
    1. What are some major differences with the 4.5 OS, i read that AIM finally has a complete buddy list and not just 30 mobile buddies? is this true? Any other changes?
    2. What's the differences between the BETA and the Official ?, is BETA just a test out version or something?
    3. Is it safe to upgrade to 4.5 OS, or will it mess up my phone ?

    Thanks much appreciated

The sms is a little different. When you restart your phone, it loads up much quicker.
Beta is the test version. Its not officially out for my phone and I upgraded, works great so far!

    good luck
This is my Blackberry. There are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Blackberry is useless. Without my Blackberry I am useless.

    Welcome to PinStack!

I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can!

    1. Major differences in 4.5 are video recording (with a media card installed in your device), HTML e-mail, voice notes.

    2. You are correct. A beta version is one that has not been approved for release by RIM or any of its carriers. Official releases are posted on a carrier's or RIM's web site.
    3. While an official release would be "safer" to install than a beta, there is always some risk involved in upgrading your device software. The good news is that you are in very capable hands on this website with the myriad people willing and able to get you through it. For the most part it is a simpe process, but if you've read through any of the threads, you can see that it also has its share of problems.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

    Roger
