Ok, sorry - I misunderstood that you had attempted to downgrade. Then our issue is ... RIM Handheld OS forum
Ok, sorry - I misunderstood that you had attempted to downgrade. Then our issue is that the install fails everytime, but the device is recognized by your computer and by destktop manager, correct? First thing I suggest if you want to continue trying to install 4.5 is to remove it from your computer and download and isntall it again. After you remove it re-boot before you reinstall...We need to rule out a bad install on your desktop as the issue.
Do you prefer to go back to 4.2? (my recomendation)
well since im stuck with the hourglass only dm never says connected. i will take any software that will work
Lets try this then....
1. Use the control panel to delete the 4.5
2. Download and isntall 126.96.36.199 here (delete the vendor file)
3. Java Wipe your device.
Lets see if this one installs....
okay i have a version of 4.2 i can use. how do you suggest i go about installing it? using the dm wont recog device steps?
okay im unable to get this comp to recog the device either (expected) it wont even work following the dm wont recog device steps
Are you able to Java Wipe the device? Are we on a 507 screen?
gary im not sure what to tell you but randomly now the device just started up. i never even touched the os. but thank you for all your much needed help...greatly appreciated
it also appears that i have 4.5 installed im not sure how but its installed
I was using the beta of .37 for a bit, then upgraded to the beta 0f .42, but I just installed this official release of .37, and it's working fairly well.
It's not too slow, and I haven't really gotten any errors aside from "uncaught exception error ###" but that could be due to some of my third party installs.
Hope the official release from Rogers is soon.
yes.... you need to install docs2go. just check off the box in the desktopmanager application loader icon.

I had it set previously to always be at 10% brightness and not have it dim automatically.
With the new OS however, I see that it sometimes goes to 100% brightness, and my keyboard/trackball light doesnt come on all the time.
Google Talk is buggy on 4.5. Downgrading to 4.2 today.
Installed last night and Im liking it a lot!!! But I did notice my speaker volume is not what it used to be. Mp3 and regular sounds arent the same. Anyone else notice and is there a fix???
Well, on my address book "Special Date" and "Anniversary/Birthday" are reversed - if I insert an anniversary it shows on calendar as "Special Date", and vice versa.
I need to know if its a system problem or if simply the portuguese translation I use is the one to blame on for the fault.
UPDATE: it was a translation problem indeed. In portuguese, "Aniversário" corresponds to "Birthday", while "Data Especial" corresponds to "Anniversary". However, "Data Especial" translates as "Special Date", quite different than "Anniversary", don't you think? ;-)

By the way, my experience so far:
google maps - Working on 188.8.131.52
jivetalk - working
bphone theme - working, but the top of the screen reverts to the default theme.
mail by google app - working
Cursor issues on internet browser - only on text fields - sometimes can't insert a password, for example, having to reload the page and then click right into the box. Normally that does the trick
I'll test Nav4all and flickr uploader very soon.
