Nope! Only to install from a different carrier!

yeah, well when the os update is available for sprint and sprint is your carrier 2 things will happen
    1. no. you dont have to delete the vendor.xml file because that's your carrier and there will not be any confusion
    2. when os 4.5 upgrade is available for us sprint users an icon will appear on our home screen on the 88xx series blackberries, because they said in some press release or post somewhere that it will be an OTA upgrade taking about 30-40 min and you will not even need desktop manager to do that upgrade,

man i love where technology is headed

Reiterating that the Device Operating System is Device Specific - this is for the 8800 only and will not load or work on other 88XX series.....

    Download corrupt?

The initial download page lists the file size as 78MB. After clicking the download link the size shows 40MB. I downloaded the file (8800M_PBr4[1].5.0_rel52_PL2.7.0.55_A4.5.0.37) and the size is 40.7MB. When I run the upgrade i receive the following error:

    "Error reading setup initialization file"
    [OK]

After clicking OK, the upgrade program terminates.

I have downloaded the file twice, both with the same result. Is anyone else having this issue?

Yes, you need to wait for the OS specific to your device. Sorry

Aw man, I echo his sentiments, I had already downloaded it and all...
Now the 8100 I have for my son to play with has a better OS than mine!
