    App error 523 reset

    hi,

i installed .37 and it was working just fine...and i wanted to remove ptt and i deleted other language files too...after that it updated the OS and now i keep getting 523 reset. i tried following few threads posted here on how to reinstall, in case of 523...but to no avail...

i tried javaloader -usb wipe...but it just keeps trying to connect to the device...is it supposed to take this long?

any help is highly appreciated...i removed the battery and connected it, but then DM doesn't recognize it...i keep hitting detect, but it says no device found...not sure wat to do...i will try the other program to wipe the device...but wanted to post first before i do it.

I had the same problem happen to me when I did a battery pull to kill a website's script that was locking up the browser.

This has been posted elsewhere... but this is what got me out of it:

    3. Pull the battery out of your device
    4. With the battery out connect the device to the computer
    5. Go to Options and select "connection settings
    6. Select USB PIN this may take a few moments since there is no battery in the device. you might even have to select detect device in some rare cases
    7. Select the application loader icon
    8. Select all software you want installed
    9. Proceed to the end portion untill you see the "Finish" button

i followed those steps from some other thread on pinstack...but when i connect without the battery and select usb...it doesn't find it. i hit detect to make it find the device and it still doesn't detect it.

There is a link in my blog to an alternative method called running the Application Loader when device wont connect. Try that and see if it helps.

hmmm...i tried that method from Gary's blog, it still doesn't recognize it...when i run app loader, it doesn't even give me an option for usb...it only has COM1 and COM2...and when i say next it doesn't detect it yet...this is getting frustrating and i'm kinda afraid too that my bb may be bricked or something...i sure hope not! i even reinstalled DM and OS!

    Just to be sure....

Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Application Loader and click Next.
    Remove the battery
    Replace the Battery
Reconnect the BlackBerry device to the computer as soon as the LED lights.

still no luck! after following the exact steps above, it doesn't have usb as an option and when i hit next to let it detect on its own, it says "unable to connect to the device" and some message saying connection could not be established etc. the device acts like its going to start up...then the hour glass on white screen comes up for a while and then same app 523 error and reset message. i'll try again...but whats going on???

can i use the javaloader or the other program to wipe my handheld out and reinstall OS? i do have a backup from yesterday, so i wudn't lose much data...what do u guys think?

    Try this....

    1. Reboot your desktop
    2. With no other prog's running ( including desktop manager) go to this location:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    3. Launch the app you see there called LOADER
    4. Follow the above steps from post #7

If you do get connected DO NOT SELECT BACK UP, all we want to do now is install the OS. (BTW - What OS are we using and is it from your carrier?)

We have not discussed your Java wipe attempts. You may want to review this primer from Lava to see if you spot any issues you may have missed...
