    I see references to the 8700 in the 4.2.0.42 BlackBerry.alx script:

    Examples:

    In <!-- Colour filesets -->

    <fileset Theme="Normal" Colour="True" ThemeSupport="~Enhanced" series="8700" Java="1.0">
    <files>
    net_rim_theme_bb_insight_icon_320x240.cod

    ---lots of references to 8700.

    But in <!-- T-Mobile filesets --> - NO 8700 filesets.
    But <!-- Vodafone filesets --> does have 8700 filesets - just not T-mobile vendorID.

    Idea: could edit the Vodafone filesets to include vendorID 100. Vodafone has filesets for other models too.

    Camera reference:
    <fileset Camera="True">
    <files>
    net_rim_bb_camera.cod
    </files>
    </fileset>

    Keyboard size:

    <fileset KeyboardType="Reduced" Java="1.0">
    <files>
    net_rim_tid.cod
    net_rim_tid_core.cod
    net_rim_bb_options_customwordlistscreen.cod
    net_rim_tid_im_alph_core.cod
    net_rim_bb_options_fastEuropean.cod
    net_rim_tid_repositoryBasedEuropean.cod
    net_rim_tid_fastEuropean.cod
    net_rim_tid_basicFastEuropean.cod
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_english_us_35k_2.cod
    net_rim_tid_dynamic_ling_data_english_us_ltr.cod
    net_rim_tid_newWordsExtractor.cod
    </files>
    </fileset>

    It's a start. Anyone have any other ideas?

    Been trying to install 4.2 so far I got the 4.2 core applications to show up in the applications list but not on the home screen.

    Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    Did try to load the OS but my 8700g appears to be highly allergic to it, in its present form.
    Had to hastily beat a retreat back to my .351.

    Question Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    Does anyone think it would be possible to pull out the lines in the blackberry.alx that refer to VAD and put them into its own .alx file and load it to a 8700. Just an idea.

    Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    Has anyone had any luck with this? I've had little luck. I disabled the camera and changed some other things with the alx file. Now the install errors out when it try to install the browser file "net_rim_bb_browser_lib.cod".

    I'm dying to get this working

    Not yet, and it's killing me that it hasn't leaked out yet. I keep seeing articles all over the place of people 'testing' it on 8700's..... c'mon!!!

    Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    I now have the time to screw with this a little bit, so will post here what I happen to come up with other than an dead 8700.

    Now see, THIS is what these forums are all about...

    Anyone need a good example of how to utilitize the forums? These guys above me are doing a great job at it.

    Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    Well...

    I thought this was going okay, but now I am stuck in the restore process...

    I am stuck at restoring folder ID. I was watching it load the files up, and it goes so damn quick, but pretty sure that some of the 4.2 files were loading in there.

    Who knows. I am going to give it another 5 min and if nothing, just pull the plug and try again.

    So you got the 4.2 OS to install? And the part it crashes on it the reload of your personal data?
    If so how did you get it to install?

    Re: 8100 4.2 0s

    Yeah, well, that was a nice experience.

    It was loading, things were going great, then froze.

    Now get this. SOMEHOW some applications were 4.2 based and others were 4.1 based, but within 10 seconds of me pulling the plug on the restore, I freeze up and java errors start popping up one after the other.

    Now I am trying to reload the the 8707 4.1 OS back into it, and I am stuck on working on DM.

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Oh well, this is what I get for not leaving good enough alone.
