I went to control panel to remove the 4.5 and the same error messages for when I was trying to install them appeared.

EDIT: They both then disappear, but when I go back to add/remove they are right there!

How did you delete / remove them in the first place (or attempt to)?

Maybe a manual delete will help things some, well let's see it would remove the program files from the pc. But the error message could be associated with the registry.

At first before I did anything and decided to downgrade, I tried to install .18. The error message came up. Tried .37 and that went through fine. So I searched in the forum and someone had something like this, but for a different device. It said to uninstall DM clean. So I did through instructions I found on the forum. Reinstalled DM and tried to reinstall .18...same error message. Went to control panel and saw the 4.5 and tried to uninstall, but the error message came up. After the error message the 4.5 disappeared, but I loaded up the add/remove again and 4.5 was right there.

EDIT: Everything I tried to uninstall was through control panel.

Lets try a manual delete of both OS's and then try to reinstall .18 and see what happens. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files takes you to the folder with the OS files

    Heavy,

Please confirm....you did not have .81 on your desktop, your DL'd and installed it and at that point had both .37 and .18 installed, correct? DM will not recognize a downgrade unless you first remove the newer OS from your desktop.

How comfortable are you with making registry changes?

Ok I'll give it a try.

EDIT: Went to the folder and I don't have any OS installed, there isn't a shared folder.

Are you asking if I know how to do it? If so then no, but I'm willing to make some changes to fix the problem.

    EDIT: And yes I confirm!

Couldn't do the manual uninstall because the shared folder wasn't there. Since it wasn't there I tried reinstalling the .18 and same message.

Please close all BB software, including desktop manager. Then follow these steps for Desktop Manager as well as any other device software in this screen:

    1. Open the Control Panel and double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    2. Select BlackBerry Desktop Software and click Change/Remove.
    3. On the InstallShield® Wizard window, select the Remove option and click Next.
    4. On the Uninstall Options window, select the check box labeled Remove all user settings for BlackBerry Desktop Software.
    5. On the Confirm Uninstall window, click OK.
    6. On the InstallShield Wizard window, click Finish.

    4.5 OS T-Mo Curve

I downloaded the new 4.5 for my T-Mo Curve and I ran into an issue. It keeps resetting on it's own. I found the problem to be the MicroSD card support. I turned it off and that solved the ONLY problem I had IF I kept the support turned off. I eventually downgraded to 4.2 because my music is more important than video recording and a better browser. Does anyone know how to get around this issue or should I just wait for the official release? Anybody?

I seem to have read some where that if you format the card WITH that OS it will stop, but I can't find where I read that now. Make sure you back it up to the PC before you try it. And now that I have typed this I may try that LOL
Maybe some one who has bettery lock with it may turn up. I have bricked My 8800 with 2 differant 4.5.x.x versions and gave up. you info that disableing the memory card stoped it from rebotting has me curious again!
