I've tried to decide which file to download from the link you've list but I was fearful I'll down load the wrong one. Can you be more specific which file to get in order to help MMS on a Blackberry pearl without a DATA PLAN?

| confirm this for me please :)
So i got a att 8100 last week and stuck my sim in it and found out it didnt support mms messaging. It has os 4.2.1.96 so if I upgrade to the rogers wireless OS 4.2.1.109 will that add the service books I need in order to send and recieve picture messages?? I have the pay per use medianet package on my account already so that shouldnt be an issue right? it's just right now I don't have any service books on the phone and no medianet browser or anything...

I put 4.5.0.55 on my son's phone. We have the unlimited family messaging plan, which he used to be able to use for SMS only. He can now send SMS, MMS, and IM. He also now has access to Medianet. I have put that off limits for fear of the "monster bill." (I have seen this monster) . But we now are getting the frills that are advertised by AT&T as a part of our Family Unlimited Multimedia plan on a Blackberry.

I'm kind of interested about this topic since I used to have a BlackBerry Curve and got their data plan. I'm with AT&T. I decided to switch to Blackjack II with pay-per-use data so I can send MMS just with my text plan because the BlackBerry data was kind of costly. My BlackBerry showed GSM connection after I cancelled the feature(it was EDGE when I had the data plan) and I couldn't send MMS any more. I still keep my BlackBerry with me. One time, I got bored and swapped the SIM back to my BlackBerry to see what would happen. I tried to send MMS to my sister's phone and it worked although it showed lower case edge. I went to manage connection -> service status and saw that the BIS was not connected. I'm not sure that they charge data for sending MMS on BlackBerry like that or not. I tried to send some MMS several times and all worked.

Update upon my 2nd call to AT&T, the blackberry technical service rep told me that the BB 8100 cannot get picture messages without the data plan even with pay per use because BB blocks it from accessing the BB servers. However the 8110 CAN get picture messages without a data plan if you have pay per use on the account. I didn't downgrade OS's to try and get the service book onto my BB 8100. I may just upgrade soon if I can find a good price on a 8110 or 8120.

one of the easiest ways to trick the system into allowing mms is to send a picture to yourself twice. ive found that this does the trick.... sometimes

i purchased a factory unlocked blackberry straight from RIM so it isnt set for any carrier. It can go to media net it just wont connect because i dont have ppy added to my plan yet. also when i look under my settings and under my service book it shows that on my OS i already have the MMS Transport & The MMS Client. So i am wondering if i add the pay per use media net thing to my account on AT&T will I be able to send and receive pictures or will i have to change my OS as well?
