AT&T High level outage in all markets 1/31/08

This just in:

End users may experience gaps in coverage and difficulty connecting to network.

AT&T technicians are working to resolve the issue.

Just in? It's been out since 8am for me. My blackjack users in the southeast can still send and receive emails, they can make calls but not receive them. My BB users are reduced to voice only.

I got onto a chat with them via the web (took a seventy minute wait). Mind-boggling that they cannot give an ETA nor fix it after all this time. Last message I got was 7:45am Central time

Um, so far mine is ok. I just called my mom and hubby, I have gotten on the internet, but no email or texts so not sure if that is working or not.

Tested Texts: I can send and receive.

Email works too since I just got an email.

We're getting reports from all over that AT&T customers are having trouble with 3G and EDGE data. A majority of the complaints are coming from the Midwest / Chicago areas, where things seem to be down entirely, but we've also heard from folks as far away as Florida. Team Engadget hasn't hit any snags in New York or Vegas where we're currently situated, but let us know if you're having troubles wherever you might be -- and what color crayon to use for this fancy "threat level" printout we've got pinned to the wall.

Hmm. Well I've only surfed PS this morn' here on the left coast -- all seems to be fine. I did have issues with edge/EDGE last night and chalked it up to the site I was trying to visit not loading. Maybe it was ATT?? Who knows

Just got this:

This outage is affecting Western Pennsylvania 3G data service and various other markets throughout the Northeast, Southeast and Central regions. The initial impact was only 3G data services, but throughout the outage, other issues have appeared. This includes 2G data service and BlackBerry service.
The AT&T Mobility Network Team is attempting to correct the outage and, at this time, is estimating that it should be completely restored by 4 p.m. Eastern.
