Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

Guys I have a question regarding the email that I recieved in response to the one I sent T-Mobile a couple days ago. Notice the writing in red. It speaks of them releasing unlock codes every 90 days. Does that mean when they give me a code it will only be good for 90 days or will it be good for life?

Thanks,

Bob

"Robert, we have made a visual audit on your account and we found that at
this time we do not have sent the SIM unlock request, in order to
fulfill your request we required the following information:

* IMEI number, press *#06# on handset to get the IMEI
(required)
* Account password or last four digits of the account holder’s
social security number (required)
* Your contact number and email address
* Make and model of the phone
* Carrier’s name on the phone
* A brief reason for the request

When you send this information, please specify which one belongs to your
personal phone and which one to your business phone, since our policy
about SIM unlock only allows to provide a SIM unlock code per line every
90 days.

Did you know you can use T-Mobile wireless service while being overseas?
Please visit us at www.t-mobile.com/international for more details about
roaming."

No, once unlocked you are unlocked. You cannot unlock another phone on this # fo 90 days (say you sold your unlocked phone and replaced it and wanted to unlock the new phone)....

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

Finally some headway-

...an email from T-Mobile:

"Robert, currently we have requested an unlock code for your Blackberry
phones with IMEI ending in 5379 and 3923. The reference number for these
requests are #1773836 and #1773838. Unlock requests usually take up to
24 hours to be completed. If a SIM Unlock Code is not available, it may
take up to 14 days to obtain the code from the manufacturer. Our SIM
Unlock Team will make a dedicated effort to obtain the unlock code for
you, but please be aware that SIM Unlock Codes are not always available
from the manufacturer. Once your request is processed you will receive
an email with the code.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

Is there a screen on your phone to tell if it's already unlocked or not, and is it possible that they might give you a phone that isn't locked>? cuz I have been with t-mobile for like 8 years and they keep telling me I have tenure or something and that I have a whole bunch of freedom. My friend tried her sim card from att&t I think and it worked fine, she was able to make calls but the weird thing was that instead of saying her caller Id showing up, mine did even tho my sim was in my hand.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

I just found out via this thread:
http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com..._unlocked.html

that my blackberry is unlocked, how is this even possible I never entered an unlock code or requested one from t-mobile do they really ship your phone unlocked if you've been with the same carrier for years? or is this some kind of fluke?

Well either way I guess I really lucked out.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

Tmob can not unlock another carrier's (cingular) phone... try finding a cingular customer and ask them to call into cingular and request an unlock code... should work
