Sorry Marmle, you can't use a sprint phone on on tmo or vice versa. They are two different types of networks. Sprint and verizon are cdma and Cingular and Tmo are GSM.

Mayflower-This is exactly how to unlock your phone, if you have the unlock code, which you said you did.

menu key > options > advanced options > sim card press trackball type MEPPD NOTE: Nothing displays on the screen during input of the code. The correct input code is MEPD. However, to get the correct code entered, the O/P key must be pressed two times, to get P. than > sim card Type MEPP andthen press the Alt + 2 key (located to the bottom left of the keypad). NOTE: The correct input code is MEP2. However, to get the correct code entered, the O/P key must be pressed two times, to get P.verify that the handheld displays enter network MEP code (10 chances left) YOU ONLY HAVE 10 CHANCES TO ENTER THIS CORRECTLY > enter unlock code and press track ball phone should shut off and reboot.

Good luck, let me know if you get it handled!

your phone is locked to the network/carrier when you buy it.
if you travel out of the country or decide to change carriers, you will also be able to keep the phone...if its unlocked.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

I am considering getting a pearl but the one i have set back at work is T-Mobile and i am a cingular user. The only issue i am concerned about is the different software on the 2 phones. For example T-Mobile has My Faves on their phones and Cingular has PTT (push to talk). if i use it with cingular after unlocking it will it have ptt on it. Also does anyone know how to "unbrand the phone" or take off the t-mobile logo

You will be able to use what ever service you are paying for. For example. I have an unlocked Cingular/AT & T red pearl but I use TMo as a service provider. Push to talk is still on the phone but I don't pay for that so there isn't a way for me to use it. I could take it off if I really wanted to but instead I just hide the icon. If i start to run out of room I'll delete the actual app. I also didn't have the my faves option for awhile until somone helped me out by giving me the app so I could have the icons back. The calls were free cause I was paying for the my faves plan, I just didn't have the icons. Now I have everything sorted out. Hope that helps. Oh and you won't be able to change the splash screen as far as getting rid of the branding.

Exactly. The TMo voicedial convenience key is set up as PTT on new Cingular/AT&T Pearls. There isn't some sort of special button that isn't on both Tmo and AT&T phones. It's more about, do you have the .cod and .alx files for either PTT or My Faves when using a different branded unlocked phone.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

I used up all my tries to enter in an unlock code in my TMO pearl because i bought unlock codes online that didn't work. It says '0 tries', now i got the code from Tmobile and it doesn't work. Is this because I have no more tries left. Is there a way to get more tries? maybe by resetting my phone?

I think you have to contact RIM now and have them reflash your firmware.

Re: Unlocking T-Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100

I switched to Cingular from T-mobile recently (because Cingular gets really good coverage and EDGE in my area and T-mobile dosn't, and is only GPRS) so I got my T-Mobile 8100 unlocked and all... put in my Cingular sim card and activated the account... and now I don't have a web browser on my phone and I cant figure out how to get the service books resent.
