Wow, setting up the pearl as modem really works!!! Thanks to all for the information that help to get this to work. Now let hope T-mobile doesn't want to a add a charge for this.
Thanks

Hey, I don't have my Blackberry in the ports list when I go into the device manager. Yet the sync still works with desktop manager. Any suggestions?

? If I were to set my 8100 as a modem would I need an isp? I currently do not have one and solely rely on my bb.... Being stranded in amish country.... Would my data plan with tmo be sufficient for me to surf on my comp using ie?

Re: 8700 As Modem (TMobile Users)

I had this working great on my pearl, then I installed the .67 update. Now I get the:
"Error 734: the PPP link control protocol was terminated" message.
Any thoughts?

I seem to be still running the .14 desktop manager, though I installed the one from Telefonica. Maybe I screwed that up?

Maybe I am missing something but isnt the point of a BB so you can use that for Email, Web browsing, etc.... instead of a laptop ?

Buy an add in card from Verizon and get DSL+ speeds would be a better option for about the same monthly cost.

Hello All!!!

I am a blackberry newbie!! I switched from a moto v300 to a preal. this is a big difference!! I'm still learning. While I am a quick learner I must be either missing something or have bad luck. After HOURS AND HOURS of going over this I have figured out that when I "query" I am getting some errors. if anyone could please help me out I would SO APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!

Bluetooth?

Thank you so much for this walkthrough I just got it working and it's a decent speed too...
(I just got 100.9 kilobits per second on a bandwidth test)

Anyone get this working through bluetooth? or do you need to use USB?

Thanks,
Jeremy

Re: 8700 As Modem (TMobile Users)

Thanks for the info - I'm sitting in Tulsa, OK with a 6 hour flight delay, and managed to get my laptop to connect through my pearl on the first try....

I even connected via my corporate VPN - thanks for the help!
