McQueen, I don't want you to violate any NDA's, but did you get the beta unit you were expecting in November and did it work well?

Nope, and I'm not sure if he'll be out my way before the April/May release date for it. BUT, Verizon has been cool about getting us a model at least a month in advance. We had the 8703e a couple of months before it was released. I'm more interested in what Cingular is up to with the 8800; but our Cingular guy is tougher and won't give out any dates to us(that bastard!) If I can get one early I will definitely post some pics.

Not too worried about NDA's; I made another account on here that I can use for other postings; and this account will be for spillin' da beans

How confident are you in that april / may time frame? Obviously until RIMM comes out an annouces it, anything is in flux, but in the past, have they hit the dates they've shared with you?

Well, their(the RIM rep) official word for the release is April, but he did say possible May, basically just to cover their ***, if it was a little bit late on coming out. So far so good on their info. I'm gonna see if I can squeeze some more info out them.

Any addl info would be great. Not that I care, but would the VZW have a camera or not?

Thanks!

No camera, no wi-fi, and apparently the Verizon 8800 isn't the black one, so that sucks

This could be my dream machine! (especially if it is the same as the 8800!)
In the lastest consumer reports, T-mobile in the Seattle Area was rated better then verizon. I can vouch for that too. Verizon no longer is head and shoulders above the rest with the network. Others are catching up. Including the New AT&T and T-mobile. T-mobile in most markets was rated either 1 or 2 along with verizon and alltell(where available)

I have a friend who works for verizon, told me that the 8800 will be a little different then the 8800 for GSM/3g. It will be a cdma phone but with GSM activated in it...(for roaming) of course this isn't new information. He also said expect it in the summer months. 6-7months.

Re: Verizon BlackBerry "Cyclone"

McQueen, Please check with your sources and let us know if you think it'll be Summer or April / May. I'll have to bite the bullet and get an 8703 if it's going to be Summer. My old moto isn't going to last too much longer and my contract is up end of Feb. I'd hate to lose my leverage by getting an 8703 now and replacing it in a few months...

Thanks!

I will know more at the end of Feb.

Can anyone confirm if Cyclone is the same as the 8800?
SPOKE WITH THE VERIZON GENIE TONIGHT. HE CONFIRMS THAT THE CYCLONE IS THE VERIZON VERSION OF THE CINGULAR 8800. IT HAS GSM CAPABILITY THROUGH VERIZON'S PARENT COMPANY - VODAPHONE.

Anyone know if the 9000 series will be both CDMA/GSM?

Re: Verizon BlackBerry "Cyclone"

There doesn't seem to be enough chatter in the VZW rooms. I need a new phone soon, so hopefully the rumors are correct and the 88xx will be out in the April-May time frame. If any of the "top-brass" at VZW view these boards, they better step up thier efforts on new devices or they will start losing their now somewhat loyal customers very quickly. Corporate users aren't the only dollars pushing thier sales figures.
