it all depends on where you live. here, there's no difference between att and verizon when it comes to service. there's a big difference with tmo though, which is why not a single person i know is on it.

the major difference is cost and phone selection. att wins hands down on that one. verizon charges $45 a month for bb data? wtf??? and they are terrible with allowing early upgrades. their phone selection stinks and they are always the last to get any new phone that comes out. that was the major reason i switched from verizon to att. i like new phones. i want new phones. att lets me upgrade 18 months into a contract (earlier than that in the past too) with no issue, and i get better phones.

cs stinks for all carriers, but i really lulz at anyone saying that verizon has good cs. they're freaking awful and it doesn't matter if it's wireless, home, or whatever. i have fios and it's a nightmare trying to get someone with half a brain on the phone when there's a problem. with att i've only ever had to call cs about replacing my 8310, and it was easy and hassle free. i don't know what everyone does that they're always calling cs at these companies.......

hey i live in pennsauken nj. I had att as late as january and was with them for 4 years. but left because of a huge bill dispute that they were wrong but would not explain/correct the problem. so now im with verizon! honestly i have had dropped calls on both. a few here and there on att but verizon its about 20 a day atleast. on the weekends its even more. now they both supposedly have perfect service in my area but neither do. att is better for me anyway. i even drop a call going over the bridge when i can see clear blue sky! or in my back yard with nothing around me. vzw cant explain it. they keep exchanging my phone but dont know what to tell me. so i have had about 7 exchanges of the same phone (storm) between the lockups and dropped calls and random restarts. the phone is junk. i have service like no where with verizon honestly. my gf has great service with them she says. but i dont. i hate them. and when i call and complain they say im lieing and that i dont know what im talking about and that the problems im having arent typical. so i told them i want a different phone through their ( multiple exchange program) and all they could do is give me the same p.o.s. phone but brand new in the box. Thats all they would do. now they know im having problems with this phone and yet they wont do anything. so i told them that i was leaving if they wouldnt even remotely help me at all and they said nothing! they just said "well sir..im sorry but there is nothing that i can do." so i hung up on the guy. because i got tired of arguing with them. im getting the iphone because they have the best service around here. plus the fact that the phone isnt limitied as much to its abilities by att as verizon does to all of their phones! im geeze no wifi on their flagship bb? come on....you know it can handle it.

good luck. just my 2 cents

I Had a BB 8830 WE with verizon for my work phone, My personal phone is an iPhone 3G on AT&T (had for 1 yr now), My ATT service has been Great, no issues, very good service so far. I had to let me 8830 Slide for a few months so i could try out the iPhone and save on data, not paying $30 per phone for data + normal usage plan charges.

It all depends on personal preferance, I enjoyed my 8830 on Verizon very much, as i am not a heavy data user and feature user, the iPhone worked better right now. As far as the service goes, both phones always had full bars here in Southern Virginia. There are spots where im down to 1 bar on Both ATT and Verizon, no matter what device im using. (flip phone, iPhone, Blackberry).

Its a hard choice that i will have to make next year when my ATT Contract is up wither or not to keep ATT or Keep Verizon as my main phone. SIM Swapping for devices is great on ATT but Verizon does have some decent devices that i can get and not be bored with (Tour, Storm).

If only Verizon would let go of keeping all their devices LOCKED DOWN and take off their stupid VERIZON OS so their devices will be more appealing, i as well as others would enjoy that.

I am also considering the change myself. I do have a few questions.

1) Do they offer unlimited texting? I looked at the bundles and the most they offer is 5K to other carriers.

2) What's the most popular data package for unlimited data and email for the HTC Touch Pro 2?

3) Does anyone know when the TP2 will be back in stock?

4) Are there prepaid phones available to test the network before I plunk down my money for the TP2?

Thanks in advance.

ya they do have pre paid phones available. i had the tp2 at one point in time but i sold it soon after getting it. i didnt like the phone...too qwerky to me and many lockups. i dont like verizon and i dropped them because of it. i went back to att with the iphone and im loving it. neither provider is perfect but i find att internet call quality and customer service 10 times better than vzw. all i ever got from vzw was " im sorry but there is nothing i can do about your phone not working" I never have that problem with att. they always help me out no matter what phone i have and the store reps arent a holes either! vzw store reps are! in fact the one was so useless and dumb and a b**** that she f'ed up my phone and i had to call vzw support to get it reset. unless att falls off the face of the earth i will never go back to vzw!! ever!!

Lot of excellent points have been posted.....can't comment on Verizon as I don't and have never used them but there is a very remote area in UT where Verizon is the only carrier with coverage.....that being said.....I believe there are many areas in the US that Verizon may have poor coverage.
My 2˘ about ATT--I have been with ATT for many, many years....before it was Cingular and after as well....with the exception of the above mentioned area and some rural locations in the US.....I have always had bars. Coverage is my first concern and not just local coverage but coverage throughout the US as I often travel.....I have seldom, if ever, lost bars on an Interstate and most major highways (the ones I have traveled, of course) with ATT.
There are times when my calls and air time may increase from month-to-month and that is when I really enjoy the minutes that I've cached with ATT.....this eliminates any surprises on my next bill for exceeding the allotted minutes of my calling plan.
In the 10+ years of ATT usage.....I think I have used customer service about 5 times because I believe they will most likely be unable to adequately address my issues.....so.....if you really are dependent on customer service.....you may also want to consider Tmobile as I used them concurrently with ATT for a year or so 4 years ago.....they were excellent and superior to ATT.
Not all carriers have or support the same phones or technology so it was important for me to choose the phone I wanted and then look at the carriers that supported that device....perhaps not so important now as you can unlock most phones. The bottom line is I still enjoy ATT for the above and a couple of other reasons.....no complaints.....well.....no complaints that could be easily resolved.

Today I had 8 dropped calls out of 9 with ATT. 3 calls got dropped while I was on the phone with ATT to ask them what was going on with the network. Since the attitude was bad and I kept getting dropped calls I decided to take a look at VZN wireless. For about the same monthly bill, unlimited minutes and unlimited BB data plan (domestic) I am thinking about jumping ship. I periodically use the BOLD to tether both domestically and internationally and I will not be able to do the same with VZN unless I get Tetherberry or some similar program. This month I have so far a 19% drop-call ratio, last month about 12%, 11% in October and around 10% the rest of the year! As a consumer/customer that pays about $179.00/month for service am I wrong to get REALLY UPSET when they cannot deliver for the service I am paying for?

Heya mate, I was recently told that verizon has some sort of family data plan price pack. I never heard if that before, but if true should be able to save on the monthly costs.

My two cents:AT&T is far better as long as you are in a good coverage area. Verizon is kick-@$$ when it comes to voice and EV-DO coverage, (or what they call 3G, but it really isn't.) So coverage wise more and more people will choose Verizon if their coverage is better in your area. But if AT&T gives you 3 to 5 bars and you constantly have 3G loaded on your phone, stick with AT&T. It works off of 900Mhz (in area's its offered). So if you have a tri-band or quad-band phone, the lower the frequency, the stronger the signal. So in essence you don't drop calls/ data sessions in buildings and whatnot. AT&T also works off of a true 3G network, only offered on GSM networks. So while on a call you can access the web and apps. EV-DO is data only, so you can't use voice diring data sessions. All in all, Verizon trumps over AT&T across the map, so if you travel or want guaranteed coverage everywhere you go, they would be the best bet. But stronger signal and faster speeds are guaranteed with AT&T as long as you fall within their 3G network.I work for AT&T, and one thing that urks me is lack of 3G compared to Verizon and Sprint.

Justyn thanks for your $0.02! I do travel extensively, about 250 days/year both domestically and internationally. Internationally I only use the data portion of the phone and have a special sims card for an unlocked phone. when I am at home, I have between 1 and 3 bars and this does not allow me to work from home at all.
The only time speed would be of concern is if I were to tether off the device which I have done on AT&T but it is my understanding that it cannot be done on Verizon.
The good new is that today I have ad 0 dropped calls but I am not traveling ... Speaking about dropped calls why is it that I can be sitting at my desk have 5 bars, be on the phone and then the call drops? Also, what makes the bars fluctuate like crazy? Is it bandwidth overload?

Could be the person on the other end as to why calls drop? As far as fluctating bars... never seen that before unless I'm connected to WIFI. Very good question.

I talk with customers all the times wondering whats going on with their landline service, you never know. I don't have a straight answer. It could be your phone, but landlines fail too.
