The 330 issue is a T-Mobile thing - if you are online when attempting to upgrade an OS, the Desktop Manager will default you back to 330, "recommend" it, and not allow you to load a newer upgrade. This hasn't happened to everyone, but it has to me and at least one other (and now, I guess, you - -). The files in this circumstance (blackberry.alx, all the .cod files, etc) are at (I guess) the T-Mobile website and the installation of 330 happens from there. My work-around was to simply do the 593 installation with the computer disconnected from the internet, and it allowed it.
And anyone have a strong opinion of .586 vs .593?
Consensus here at Pinstack is that 593 is the best of the two. However, I'm using 586 because on my device it runs just a little smoother and faster, and it operates the Camera application alot better. So, I suggest 586, however, again, most people here will recommend 593.

I wiped my device and loaded the official version. The download file was a lot larger than the leaked version.

Downloaded 656, installed it, and have been running around the menus and features for about 15 minutes - - it is very good, but I don't see any difference at all in structure, speed, graphics, or anything when compared to 586. Some other features, for example Battery life, may be different but only time will tell. It looks like a lateral move rather than an upgrade. 593 had a problem with the camera (especially managing white balance), but that issue does not carry over to 656. I'll comment on differences as I encounter them, but so far nada - -

My today theme got messed up! It used to display sms/emails that were unread, now it shows my conversations! I don't know how to make it stop doing that

Yeah, I've bounced the device several times today, adding or removing apps, but didn't really notice much if any improvement in boot times.

I have found two specific instances (and I would assume there are more) when processing time under 656 is substantially faster than 586 or 593: 1. Opening the camera and/or video recorder takes about 2/3 of the time; 2. setting the alarm in the "Clock" function is faster. I noticed these two examples because these are features I use frequently, so I would assume this holds true with the processing time for a lot of tasks. So right now 656 is showing an improvement in speed - we'll see what else we can find out the next 7 days or so until the next new OS pops up - lol

I don't use custom themes, so can't help you there, Carlos.

Loaded .656 last night. 9700 running better than ever. Everything seems to run smoother than .330. Hoping for better battery life over .330. No issues yet.

So I upgraded that evening, by using the App Loader instead of Desktop Manager with App Loader. Smooth as silk!

I've had issues with .593 though. I have a green LED blinking all of the time. Not sure why, or if that is the way it's supposed to be - but I never remember that happening in the past. And my calls are extremely garbled if I am anywhere near my WiFi router - which is where I sit on our couch to work...

Downloading .656 now, as I have the time to upgrade again today. Can't work with garbled calls!
