So I see what's happening here - - Weekly OS Upgrade! I keep promising myself that I'm going to wait for six point oh before I upgrade again, but then the question nags: 680 might be REALLY COOL and I'm missing out if I don't try it!! So it is downloading as I type . . . .

Got it - Installed it - Played with it!

There's a couple of differences worth noting: 1. There are a few minor, subtle appearance changes. Nothing worth documenting, however; I think most folks won't notice. 2. It s 3 mb larger than 656, so heavy app users may need to delete a couple of apps they don't use. For normal Ap Joes like me this is not important. 3. The Biggie - - Speed! We've never had reason to complain about the 9700s speed, however the 680 OS is, in some areas, substantially faster on my device. The three examples are when closing Password Keeper; opening the Camera; and opening documents on "Word To Go". These seem to be processor-heavy functions, but 680 seems to cut the times in about half. Also, if you watch carefully, graphic/menu/picture/screen changes are no longer immediate like before; they are immediate. I know that sounds strange, but think about it. Finally 4. The Document To Go software is upgraded. Since the new "free" version is new to me, I'm unable to list the new features; however it is a newer version nonetheless. There's probably a few other changes I haven't found yet, because it has only been on my device for a few hours.

My recommendation is to download and upgrade!

Yeah, that's the worst part of upgrading the OS. Thankfully developers are starting to institute built-in backups to their applications.

Ok, normally the newest OS is the first one but the one with 5.0.0.680 is the third one, which is the highest but I want to make sure it is the right one.

    Is this the one?

    Package Version: 5.0.0.1149
    Consisting of:
    • Applications: 5.0.0.680

Hm...I downloaded, installed, removed vendor, and DM finds it but it won't install. It says "no software update is required for your device." What did I do wrong? Been a while since I did an OS update.

Nope, not just you. I did turn off WiFi and unhook my internet since I read that could cause an issue, then closed everything and tried again.
