HOW TO: Run Application Loader when the BlackBerry device does not connect

    Procedure

When the BlackBerry device is not detected by the BlackBerry Application Loader, and you have verified all cables and connections, complete the following steps:

Note: Timing is important in this process. Read through the following steps before beginning this procedure.
    1. Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
    2. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Application Loader and click Next.
    3. Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB02141.
    4. Reconnect the BlackBerry device to the computer before the BlackBerry device finishes resetting, and complete one of the following steps:
      • For BlackBerry devices with a USB connection, wait until the drop-down list on the Communication Port Selection window changes to USB PIN and click Next.
      • For BlackBerry devices with a serial connection, click Next on the Communication Port Selection window.
    5. If the Handheld Password Required dialog box appears, type your password. The Application Loader will detect the BlackBerry device.
Note: If these steps do not complete successfully the first time, the BlackBerry device might have finished resetting before the Application Loader could connect to the BlackBerry device.

    Additional Info

If the BlackBerry device is not detected by Application Loader after you run the programmer.exe utility, see KB02124.
If you receive device errors 505 or 507, see KB02792.
If you are unable to detect the BlackBerry device with a USB connection, or if BlackBerry Desktop Manager does not detect the BlackBerry device connected to the computer, see KB00125.

Good stuff...I have found you have to do the battery trick at just the right time...you have to do it a few times to get it right. If the above fails...there is also the JLoader app that's floatiing around here...same principal...but in a command line utility.
When in Doubt, Pop the Battery Out!

    still not working :o(

I just gave my Tour a hard reset and plugged in just before it completed and it still didn't work. I downloaded a version of AppLoader but whenever it is about to complete loading it just goes off without linking to my device. Any ideas?
