Never seen an OS growing so fast. Something new everyday.

Is it just me or do none of these 4.1s respond or are as fast as the 4.0.4 stable build?

4.1.10.1 has been perfect for me. Try compcache or swap if you dont have it yet. Also, see if you have an app called Dev Tools and go in that. Development settings, and click on a max of 4 app processes. This seems to help my g1 stay responsive. I also use the taskiller widget.

I set up a linux-swap partition. Is that enough? I was under the impression that the rom was supposed to use the swap partition automatically without compcache.

This 4.1.11 is really pissing me off. For some reason when I end tasks with advanced task manager, it goes into a black screen, but it's not frozen. I can still feel around and activate apps just as I've done with this browser. It does it when exiting apps too, but most of the time it recovers after waiting, sometimes it requires a reboot. Stupid. All I can see is my notification bar on my home screen!

I have 4.1.11.1 too and dont have these issues. Try wiping and reflashing. You will have to log back into google when you reboot and your contacts gmail calendar will resync. You will lose your browser favs and apps settings unless you do a backup on them. There is an app for it in the market. Just backup before the wipe and restore after you flash.

Go to your terminal app, type su and enter, then type free and enter. You will see the MB for your swap file if working. If its not working, you can dl the latest file you need here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537236 and then follow the instructions listed for terminal to enable/activate it. Reboot and then go back to terminal, su, and then free. You should see your swap file showing MBs now.

Also, everytime you reboot you will have to go back in dev tools app, dev settings, and do your setting for 4 max app processes if you tried that and liked it.

Also if certain apps are forceclosing on you, you can uninstall and reinstall or try going to terminal, type su and enter, type fix_permissions and enter. This will fix all of your apps permissions to the developers specs. No reboot is required.

Were those 5 apps installed on your sdcard using apps2sd or were they installed on the phone? If on your phone then you wiped them. The sd card doesnt get touched during a phone wipe.

Ive lost icons before too. Usually, if my phone starts lagging and weird things are happening, then its going to be the rom build is experiencing problems or your phone could use a wipe.

Ive been flashing Cyanogen and themes for prob 3+ months now and have wiped 2 x.
