    Recovery Systems

Being one who is addicted to updates and flashing custom roms, when developers started moving to OS 4.3 and the requirements was that you were required to flash using the latest CWM Recovery, I was not real happy. I started out using CWM, but moved to TWRP Recovery and fell in love with it's ease and setup. Moving back to CWM was not difficult because I was familiar with it and have the Premium version so Touch Recovery was easy to use, but change was hard to swallow.

It didn't take long for TeamWin to catch up and make flashing 4.3 Roms successful on their recovery as well. There are a few ways to get the latest update which is 2.6.1.1. GooManager is recommended from the TeamWin site, but sometimes Goo just doesn't like to play. For instance I have been trying to upgrade with my Nexus 7 with no success of getting the recovery image to load. It said the download was successful but when checking the TWRP recovery or Goo fold with Rom Toolbox, the folders did not have the image. Low and behold it all amounted to changing the destination folder name and walla first try and now I'm back in business.

You can also flash the .tar file with Odin, or wait til someone comes up with a zip file to flash from your device, or create a zip yourself, if the knowledge is there.

Whichever recovery system you choose to use really doesn't matter but it's so nice for backups and restoration of previous roms, flashing the latest gapps, etc.

I hope this post is useful to our members, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask them

    Enjoy

+1 to TWRP. Been using since it first appeared and have never had an issue. Back when I had the tab I had to use cwm and hated it.

TWRP is just use friendly. Easy to backup and move files. On the S3 the team has been quick to keep up with changes (like changes in the boot loader....shame on you Samsung/sprint) on newer s3s.

I am fortunate not to have had issues with bootloader other than the moto you sent me which is still one of the nicest things I've had anyone do, thank you very much. For your kind gesture I am now strung out on touch screen, android, and flashing. Never could beat the bootloader thing though. +1 for TWRP still have to use CWM on the Nook Color though in order to run 4.3 OS.
