Yes, the CM rom series and several others have the auto apps2sd working. You just install and it works. The apps that you have now on the device can be moved via an option on the recovery 1.4 ( I believe) or via the apps2sd app. They would be moved over to the sd.

Still waiting for my sd card. I've also heard about putting the caches to the sd, how's that done?

just did the partitioning! i don't see any noticeable difference to be honest.. also, is there a way to reverse this process? just in case i don't need all that space for apps?

Now that you have partitioned, you will be able to load endless apps. I would suggest reading up on compcache/linux swap and do that too. It's a swap file like virtual memory that goes on your sd card. I think it keeps the android running quicker along with the overclock.

As far as reversing the apps2sd, you should be able to copy or move all apps from the sd card back over to the internal memory, but I'm not quite sure about stopping the new apps downloaded from being installed on the card. You will have to read up on it. There is so much to learn not being a programmer and all.

I did the linux-swap instead of compcache. Is there a difference? Also, is there a way to partition the sd card so it just has linux-swap? It's a bit pointless for my sister's mt3g since it already has more mem for apps.

You could take off the apps2sd program but it doesnt matter either way because the linux-swap barely takes any room on your sd card. You will prob max out the swap at 100mb or less. The rest of your sd card can be media and file storage and the apps2sd if you choose.

yeah, but the cm 4.0.4 does apps2sd automatically. is there any way i can just partition the card to only have file storage and linux-swap? how would that look? the same way on the console, but just skip the 500mb partition?

Right, skip the additional partition for apps2sd and remove the program from the phone. Also, I'm sure there is code to disable apps2sd, but I don't know exactly where to find that code.

This is not my strong area in explaining it, but this is what I have downloaded and then followed the instructions for using terminal.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=542899

You can always check if your swap is working. Go to terminal, type su and enter, type free and enter. This displays the avail internal mem and the swap mem.

just did it to my friend's G1. did the partition and installed 4.1.11, but now it says the phone is low on memory after finishing everything. it has about 500kb storage. what's up with that? the phone's secondary says 369mb free out of 500mb, so the apps must be on the card..

Yeah the wipe fixed it. I got frustrated with it and just did a clean flash. Thanks! One more G1 joins the ranks!
