NY Times on iPhone: "BB Users Dont need to Switch"

    http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/0...th-the-iphone/

David Pogue of the NY Times got to play w/ the iPhone for a bit,
and among the main complaints were:

-Typing is very difficult on the touch screen- many typos

-Internet was pretty slow on Wifi, will be a slow crawl on
    EDGE cellular networks.

    -Email was untested

Translation, BB users wont need to be getting rid of their devices
    anytime soon.

Oh yeah you guys who know more than me (most people on here) are also due a huge thanks!!!!
It doesn't always come back, but everytime you help someone they are grateful.
To you a small fix is a monster fix to a newbie!!!!!

yeah but the fact that RIM took a 7.9% loss on Nasdaq, which most say was due to apple's announcement of the iphone, doesnt bode well for them

Me too, with the release of the 8800 and the white pearl? and next xmas, it's only going up. My opinion is that RIM has this down pat. the iphone not really a contender. Too many of my friends have found out about itunes security too late. Not a user friendly idea to me. The pearl is their first attempt at the private sector. A great leap forward, after the 8800 I guess another private use release again? They do pay attention to these boards and see what people want!

The fluctuation in RIM stock is nothing more than a knee jerk reaction from short term novice investors. It will rebound nicely & people will have forgotten all about it in a flash.

Re: NY Times on iPhone: "BB Users Dont need to Switch"

Lets be honest. The iPhone is a great device in intention and appearance. In actual practice it is unproven, however if anyone can pull a device like this off it would be Apple. I say wait for the 2nd gen. of the iPhone. When all the kinks get worked out. When networks upgrade (hopefully) and when the exclusive distribution contract with Cingular expires.

Kudos to apple for putting a fully operational OS on a mobile device.

one more thing..directed towards Steve Jobs..

"YO STEVE-O CAN WE GET A REMOVABLE BATTERY???- C'MON STEVE...DON'T HATE MAN, REMOVABLE BATTERY MAN"

(those of you with ipods know what I speak of)

It'll never happen- Apple having removable batteries, is like
Windows being able to run OSX alongside Vista- Its Apples
    Kryptonite.

In a perfect world w/ all things being equal, I'd get an
iPhone, but when you have to deal w/ the price, the politics of
Cell phone Carriers, the unproven nature of the device, etc etc etc,
I dont see myself even CONSIDERING buying the iPhone until the next
    5+ years.

David Pogue is a known Apple Loyalist, and biased reporter. He was given special treatment by Apple Inc. as usual.

In exchange for his usual gushing report over any Apple product, he was given an iPhone for an hour to "play with".

So to see him list the slightest negative says volumes about the iPhone. A product name that Apple does not own.

The device itself has many negatives.
No replaceable battery in a $600 device?
    No interface with Office?
    Apples dead pixel policy.
    Scratches, Scratches, Scratches!
    No 3G... surely your kidding?
    No expandable memory slot?

The most entertaining aspect of this "entertainment device" will be following the story.

In the mean time, I'm using my trusty BlackBerry Now to just get it done!

    Cheers.........
