    os - have used blackberries (still have 2) and iPhones for a while - what is the best way to check latest androis OS on the devices and update when new ones are released?

    To check and see what version is installed on the device Menu/Settings/About Phone and look for firmware version number. Updates get pushed to the phone automatically from the carrier OTA. But if you root your device you can usually get the update early plus with extra goodies via a custom ROM.
