Welcome to android. We're slowly building up here on pinstack, but we'll try to make your switch as fun as possible. Get to rooting! Also a c6 sd is a must.

Think jailbreaking like you would an iphone. It opens up a world of roms, themes, overclocking, apps, using the sd card as a virtual memory and storage for your apps too, tweaks, and many other things that the stock TMO official software doesn't have or can't do.

rooting is great i felt free the day i rooted my G1.... Usual if you root is for a reason. like loading a Mod or wanting to use terminal. I use it all the time to manage my servers on terminal....

there is a easy way to root android phone.

http://androidandme.com/2009/08/news...android-phone/

this is the easiest way of doing it. i can email you the apk file if you wish since i know the one i have it up to date.

Here is a how to video on it by the same people..

Right behind you explorer. I too just landed TWO mytouches. One for me and one for wife. I have been playing with it for a week now and HOLY FREAKING C. BIG difference from the bb8320. I can say one thing the keyboard is a pain to get used too. I have all three available and well they are all the same to me. I have fat fingers.

I do have one question about the phone. Is there a way to remove some of the installed programs that I dont use like google maps, instant messaging and so forth? Is rooting it the only way to do that? I know with the BB i was able to pick and choose what i wanted on the phone and it was nice to free up lots of mem. Im having issues on this one.

Thanks,
dASUdevil

I'm the same way...I have fat fingers so I hope I can use the keyboard well...I just got tired of the idiots at tmo blackberry support who kept blaming all my problems on everyone elses phone....like really...are 25 other people on diff phones and diff carriers the cause of all my problems???? I mean get real...I will say this though...the super I have been talking to that hooked me and my wife up on our new phones was the very first person to ever do what she saiys and call me back....I love her and wish I could talk to her every time I call...it took me 20 supervisor (on one call) to get to her. It was awsome...so now hopefully my mytouch will rock my world and ill falll in love with tmo again...well see

i don't believe you can delete preloaded apps, but rooting will allow you to use apps2sd. rooting solves everything. your phone will be faster, have more memory, be more versatile, etc. load cyanogen 4.0.4. after you're all done rooting, come back and we'll teach you some more goodies.

make sure you all get class 6 sd cards! at least 4gb! you'll really love your mt3g after setting it all up. i'm running cyanogen 4.1.11.1 (experimental), apps2sd, class6 8gb micro sdhc.
