[Help] What is the best Android phone out there?

I'm a BB addict, hate the iphone, can't use WM devices and dying to try Android.

What is the best Android phone out there - or coming very soon?

I don't really care about the carrier as I have both Tmobile and ATT.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Not much out there to choose from. I use a g1 but the mytouch is really nice. Much better battery. You.choose between having a crappy battery with a physical keyboard, big device or a small lightweight phone w excellent battery...my suggestion would be to hold out till the end of the year until they come up with a better hardware that combines the physical keyboard with battery life and size. Many rumors about Motorola and Samsung Android phones coming up soon including on at&t

There are quite a few devices out there running the Android platform. The MyTouch from T-Mo is definitely a very nice device as is the HTC Hero. I posted a list of speculative dates and devices here. You may want to check out HTC's product line here too.

YES! Get the MY TOUCH! But better phones will be coming which will always be the case no matter how long you wait. The My Touch is a good representation Android. More complete than the G1 with better battery, and more storage. On screen keyboard takes some getting used to. But Coming from a BB even the G1's physical keyboard will feel awkward.

I think the g1 is a crappy representation of the android. This phone is so limited from battery to memory and processor speed! Cmon give us 1600mah at least!

Is your G1 rooted? You can improve all those problems greatly if you root it!

I'd love to but it's confusing. It's nothing like jailbreaking an iphone.

I was hesitant for awhile myself, but once I did, I hated I waited as long as I did. Here's the guide I used.

Just follow word for word and it takes about 15-20 minutes and well worth it. Besides upgrading to the M.T.3g, its the only option for G1 owners IMO.

Only downside to the G1 is the speculation it may have hit it's storage ceiling with the newer OS releases. I'm a big fan of the OS however and see it going a lot of places.

Install Cyanogen's recovery boot img v. 1.4. Its very handy when flashing new roms and setting up backups. Read up about installing apps2sd and either compcache or Linux swap on your sd card. Both of these will give you a performance boost.
