flashing STOCK ginger bread on htc evo 3D (ics & sense 3.6)

I currently have ics and sense 3.6, but I wish to go back to stock ginger bread, no custom Roms, no HTC sense, no custom anything, just pure stock.
A friend recommend that i use Odin...

But what is the easiest and safest way to do it ? I am willing to take the risk of bricking as my upgrade is dew in March this year, if possible can I do it without rooting ?

Note: I have a pc with a working data connection, tell me what I need.
    Thanks in advance.

Odin will NOT work with an HTC.
Won't even connect as far as I know, and if it did it'd brick it for sure. Odin=Samsung.

You do need to root and you need to have adb installed as well as fastboot and HTC drivers.

You will also need to have it unlocked through the HTC Dev utility. You can Google that. Its not difficult. You can achieve s-off another way, but I'd simply do it through the Dev site since you lack experience.

As for "stock" gingerbread, what do you mean? AOSP? Good luck finding it. I believe that would be CM7, as 9 is ICS and there was no 8.

If you're referring to the stock ROM it shipped with, you may be able to find that ruu, but you will have to find the one (in all cases) specifically for your 3D. The Sprint won't work.

I'd help you more but HTC is a pain in the butt to work with.

In theory (and from my experience) you simply need to unlock through HTC Dev, download the ROM of choice, root the device, then install custom recovery, put ROM on SD card (either the external or adb push to internal) and the install through recovery.

KTW, its no secret I lack patience with you, so other than this I'm not willing to go further. My best advice is search for YOUR MAKE of the 3D root instructions. If you take your time AND FOLLOW directions, you can do it.

I can't stress that you need to read.
You need adb (probably will be in instructions)
You need a ROM. I'd suggest a vanilla ICS for that device over GB, but its yours so do what you will.

Good luck. And don't use Odin.

    PC.
Guy, if you don't know what the tool will do, don't use it.

Routing needs to be understood, at least understand the directions.

I think its supposed to root the phone with S-off.

Is there any HTC alternative for Odin ?

    Current progress: found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1786578

Are these ruu's or Roms ? And which one is the correct ginger bread one ? Any clue ?

Read this thread....ruus located. How to tell difference between ICS and GB and CDMA ruus is in a post on the first page. I would recommend reading it all.

    KTW, Google is your friend.
    You have a gsm Evo.

Read today, do tomorrow. It's clear you aren't ready to do what you are wanting to do.

    I've found this ruu

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1267131

Is it worth a shot ?

I am aware its a Rogers ruu, not sure if that is CDMA or GSM. Does it matter ?

Did you not see the 2 freaking links that were guides to EXACTLY what you asked for in the first post?

I'm not doing this. If the reason (after reading this) aren't abundantly clear then...well...there ya go.
