So it's the pop in gmail that takes so long? Because I get my gmail instantly. It's been a while since I had anything set up as pop.

BHP, if you configure your G Mail via Microsoft Exchange Active sync , you get push mail ! It's fast. It works for me.

If you mean the GMail that comes bundled with Android, NO !
If I use standard Gmail for syncing, YES everything ( contacts, tasks, Google Reader, Picasa, et al) except email.
That I leave to Microsft Exchange Sync. Because its genuinely Push Mail. All you have to do when you set it up is change the server that automatically pops up (gmail.com). Replace with m.google.com, wait for confirmation and then configure your settings.

Cats I still am, and I use the exact same settings on the iPhone 4S. Exactly the same to get Push Mail.

I must say it is. All the little adjustments you can do is a great improvement on the previous one for the iPhone. That sucked...
