My phone has slowly started to charge slower and slower. Its at the point where it discharges if used while plugged in and doesn't charge fully overnight.
Insurance should cover it. Guess we will see.

Thought it may have been kernel related but I monitored the voltage and it seems its hardware. Went back to completely stock and failed to charge fully last night. Going to have it looked at today.

I know its not the battery. Life has been fairly good throughout. Its just not charging.

Go by your nearest Apple store. They'll fix you up. You'll be in and out in 30 minutes.

I'll get Tweety onto him Rog! Just say so, and I'll open the cage.
Now, for the matter on hand.
Jay, the problem of not charging is a common one apparently. Around here anyway. The work around is the substitution of the S4, or as I and others found out, and for free, was the substitution of the microUSB slot. I actually saw how they did it, and it takes a minute to do. Better thatn going through the whole procedure of exchanging the smartphone...
Oh-hum, ok you'll need a local, licensed and authorized Samsung repair tech to do it, and we have them here. In your area, in the sticks, I'm not sure they're around.

    Its frustrating.
The issue comes and goes, and I can't rely on it to charge.

I bought this at target, and I've called to see if I can simply exchange it, but I don't have high hopes. I've still got the Nexus as a backup.

Last night I returned it to stock using Odin. The stock recovery couldn't mount /data which wasn't good.

This is the first one to go south on me, and I'm confident in a replacement. Just wish it didn't need to be ordered.

As for replacing the USB, its easier just to replace the device. I have insurance if Target won't replace so I'll use it.

No, the battery is fine. The more I look at it, the USB port has gone. Like Del said, it can be replaced, just easier to get the new replacement. Defective batteries don't hold charges and let you come home around 50% aftet a 10 hour shift and over an hour screen time. They also don't have any effect on recoveries being unable to read /data.

    Right, cause Apple does everything?
Given that hour is constantly downloading and I'm often multitasking its not.

Pulling 200mb to 1.8gig files while emailing/texting and surfing with the occasional doc creation within the hour I have during the day, 50%-70% is good. The 5am-1pm drain is minimal.Remember I do everything digital on my device.

And I'm pulling those downloads on 3g. Sadly the gig downloads don't make it within that time frame. Sprint sucks but speeds are better in town.
