FYI, if you install CyanogenMod, you have the ability to revoke individual permissions for the applications you install. It can lead to force closes in the application, but you can usually disable network access for an application without issue. There's no reason for, say, an SMS backup application to have network access.

I didn't even get to permissions. Read reviews.
Try juice defender if you want a solid power management app.

just saw the permissions of juice defender now...

now why on earth does it need to modify/delete storage card contents and view my location ?

    Whoa horsey.
Cyanogen Mod is a ROM. AOSP to be exact. Lets get to that later.

Not trying to be condescending here but that app has a couple of red flags.
    1. Reviews
    2. Can't find on Market
    3. Clicking on devs name in the link you gave gives "no Apps published"

If it were me, wouldntt have bothered with that app or site. The Market itself can be hazardous if you go all Willy Nilly downloading. It is truely the wild west from other sites that generally just host the apps. Steer Clear unless it looks legit.

    Remember, proactive.

If you still have that app installed, remove it. Look at your bill to see if you are getting hit with premium mms $$
