First off this is FREE! All apps are open source.

If you have one of the newly released DivX Certified mobile phones, you already have everything you need to get started watching DivX videos on-the-go. Like other DivX Certified products, DivX Certified mobile phones let you take DivX video from your PC to watch, well, just about anywhere right out of the box. Ready? Download some video for your phone.

For those who do not yet have a DivX Certified mobile phone with built-in DivX playback, fear not, we have not forgotten you. If your phone can handle it, you can download the DivX Mobile Player and get down to the business of watching your DivX videos just about anywhere. Here is how:

    Install DivX Mobile Player

If you have a phone that meets certain requirements, you can download the DivX Mobile Player to your PC and transfer it to your phone, or download it directly to your phone. Read the instructions here. Once it is installed on your phone, the next step is to load some video.

    Get video
If you already have a stash of videos you want to play when you are out and about, all you have to do is convert them for mobile playback. Because phones have smaller screens you will want to optimize your video resolution and bitrate for playback on your mobile phone. And DivX Converter makes that easier than ever before.

For playback on a Smartphone, PDA or PMP, open DivX Converter and then:
Drag and drop the video you want to convert into Converter
Select the Mobile profile (320x240 resolution)
    Click Convert

If you want to play video on an entry-level mobile phone with a smaller screen, you may want to tweak the settings a bit. After you drag and drop your video into DivX Converter and choose the Mobile profile:

    Click View List, then Modify
Check the Use Custom Resolution box and scale it down to 176x144
    Click OK and then Convert

Why the extra steps? Well, if your phone has a smaller screen, it probably supports resolutions up to 176x144 at most, while the standard Mobile profile creates videos that look better on phones that support resolutions up to 320x240. Check your phone before you convert; some may support even higher resolutions.

If you are not into doing it yourself, we know what you like and we are putting it all together on DivX Mobile Media, our new mobile video site (to access it from your phone, type
mm.divx.com into the browser on your phone). There you will find mobile-ready DivX videos from our content partners.

    Go time
Depending on the capabilities of your phone, you can transfer videos to a memory card and sideload them into your phone, or you can connect your phone to your PC using a cable link and transfer videos directly. Or, if you do not have time to transfer before you hit the road, thanks to DivX Mobile Media, you can download straight to your phone from mm.divx.com. (The site and the videos are free but data charges from your wireless carrier may still apply.)

For more details, check the manual that came with your phone and read the short how-to articles we created to help you enjoy DivX video on your phone.

Get Dr. Divx and you will need the codec:

    http://sourceforge.net/project/downl...irror=internap OR

http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/ There is also a Mac version on this link.

After you download the video, as a flash video, just re associate the file to .avi, that's all!

Also, here is a step by step guide to convert and save:

    This method works very well....

I have been able to save a lot of YouTube vids for my media card including rare ECW Hardcore wrestling matches... The entire process takes about 10 mins per sitting (depends on the size of the .flv file).....
