Official Ringtone Thread 2...

Thread 1 got so large we needed to start a new one! One request I have is lets get more requests and more tones.

Ringers can be requested in this thread...

Be specific about:
what type of BB you have...
name of the artist and song...
if not a song please explain the ringer in detail...
if you do not have a data plan please say so...

You must have a data plan on your BB to download ringers from the web. Just visit the link provided from your BB and proceed to download the ringer from there.

If you do not have a data plan you can follow the instructions in the following thread...

Not all BB's will play the same ringers, some BB's play mp3, some adp or wav, some only play midi. That is why it is important to include the type of BB you have.

If you do not have a website but you want to contribute a ringer you can start your own site, which is very simple or you can ask a fellow stacker if they can host the ringer for you. You can also contact me via pm if you want a ringer to be hosted, I would be honored to host it for you. It would be on www.mobile41.com.

There are also many sites that will let you upload a ringer and then download that same ringer to your BB. One of them I use frequently is www.coolservice.dk/en/compatibilities.php. You visit the site from your pc, upload the ringer, then a link will be provided in which you will visit from your BB. You will need a code, which will be provided when the ringer is uploaded. Im not sure if there is a limit on how many times the ringer can be downloaded, or if there is a limit on how long it will stay in order to be downloaded.

If you are interested in creating wav ringtones here are the settings that I find work the best... 1 mono, 8bit, 8,000 hz, making sure the size doesnt exceed 250kb give or take.

There isn't a set file limit but most ringtones are 300k or lower.

Depends on many things, the BB you have, the hz and kbps of the ringer, the server you are using to load the ringer... blah blah blah

Bottom line is on your BB you can hold an average of 500kb... But if you ever need any bigger than that I would be happy to help...

My BB was acting up, so maybe not...
