Could a media card be damaged by water? Is it safe to put it in my new phone or will it damage it?

About a week ago I damaged my pink 8130 with water. I was able to get a new one but I'm a little worried to place my old media card in my new phone, the media card was in my old phone when it plunged into my cup of water. I don't want to put my media card in my replacement phone in fear it will destroy it. Help anyone know what I should do?

I doubt it would do anything to the phone; but the card may be completely useless

As long as its dry, its ok to put it in the phone. Can you put it in the computer first to make sure it works?

One of the cool things about Sd/Cf cards vs micro-drives, is...you can wash a sd/cf card...let it dry completely(Yes, even in a dryer...oops!) and they still perform. I have been a member of several mobile sites and read of the same "oopsy", w/ the same results. The key is to NEVER put a wet card into your BB. Always let it dry. Methods in which to dry: Time, silicon gel packs in plastic zip-loc, or rice in zip-loc. WET BB'S PROMOTE BB THORNS! OUCH!!!!!!

the chips are solid state, as long as the card is dry and you clean off any corrosion, moisture and debris from it the odds are in your favor.

I would give it @ least 24-48hrs in warm place to be sure its dry.

had a similar incident; I let the media card dry for 2 days and popped it in the BB. Everything is fine-didn't lose anything.
