How to edit a MIDI file?

Does anyone have free software that will let you edit a MIDI file? I'm mainly looking to take off the first 5 seconds or so from the Ghostbusters theme song. I know that Sound Recorder will do that for WAV files, but not MIDI.

    Thanks

Most music notation software will read the MIDI file and display it as a series of bars of music. In that form you can add bars, delete bars and rework the melody if you like.Finale offers a free program called Notepad which may allow you to do this.

    BassPlaya, Welcome to PinStack.

Thanks for the information about Notepad. There are a lot of Midi composition programs out there. If I remember right, Nokia even bundled one with their Cell phones at one time. Of course it was only a single channel tone generator with a very limited capability.
