Project Gutenberg is the first and largest single collection of free electronic books, or eBooks. Michael Hart, founder of Project Gutenberg, invented eBooks in 1971 and continues to inspire the creation of eBooks and related technologies today.

The Project Gutenberg Philosophy is to make information, books and other materials available to the general public in forms a vast majority of the computers, programs and people can easily read, use, quote, and search.

    An excellent resource.

I recommend you also check out manybooks.net (OTA link mnybks.net) that provides most if not all of the Gutenberg books in many formats including BB-aware stuff like Mobipocket and standalone .jar.

    Way cool!

Anybody tried Booksinmyphone? I've tried downloading and installing on my 8100 Pearl via desktop manager but the books don't work. They're java files. Do those have to be downloaded OTA? Hate to do that. I'm with Rogers in Canada and their data allowances suck. Thanks, guys!

Thanks! I used to get tons of books from Gutenberg on my Palm, but since converting to BB, I hadn't thought about it. Going there now!
