Outdated, NO. Latest Technology, again NO. Still usable, Yes.

    Re: Is the 7290 outdated?

I had one before my 7130e I loved it, all I learn was on this device and it was undestructable ( All of 72xx series knot what I mean ) but I really likes the suretype and the memory upgrade for the 7130e

Definitly I tried the 8703 too and didn't liked the waffle size but if you're not rought on your BB this should be a great device for you
I'm french canadian so I can also help you in french, just PM me
UNLESS it is for a BETA OS, it's at your own risk and I won't support it

All your PIM data will transfer seemlessly. They work the same. I went from a 7290 to an 8700, to the Pearl without loosing anything. Just Backed up the old BB and restored to the New on. But the latest versions of the Desktop manager have a wizard to do this for you.

I say go ahead an update, unless you want to wait for the 8800.

    Hope this Helps

I'm thinking about getting a 8700 as well. Are there big differences between the 7290 and 8700?
WHat you people think are the improvements?

So do I. Although the 8703e is looking more and more enticing. My wife wants to "steal" my 7250, so I'll have to figure something out. I wish that Sprint was up to speed on the newer models, but after being a Sprint customer for several years, I'm used to it.

    Re: Is the 7290 outdated?

the 7290 carries out the main functions of Blackberry - email, pim, calendar etc just as flawlessly as it always did. the only thing it misses sitting next to the 8700 for me is the fact that its monophonic and the screen is not so hot.
