    Hello, welcome to pinstack.

Is the BB still tied to the previous owner's BIS or BES? If so have them delete it.

If the BB is not tied to the old account, or after it has been removed from your BB go into options, advanced, service books and delete the service books that pertain to the email in question.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hey cp6169, I'm curious whether removing IT policy would take care of this? Jus' a question ==

    Thank you.

I reinstalled the most up to date software and it seems to have solved everything. I tried reseting first and it just did not work.

How is it possible to receive emails when I do not have the DATA package from my carrier?

I am only using it as a PDA and Phone and not carrying any of the DATA package, yet I am still receiving emails...

    Thank you all

You don't have a data plan and you're receiving emails?!?

Is it possible that you are actually receiving SMS (text) messages and mistaking them for email?

I was mistaken. I called Alltel yesterday to find out what was going on, and found out that I do have that plan.

They took care of my problem and am now using my BB and having fun!

If you've wiped the device, this can not happen with BES, only BIS.

Even with BES, if the former user has a new device on the BES, this can't happen. If it IS BES, simply deleting all the Desktop[] service books will stop the email from flowing - and you should not be able to reactivate it either.

This is almost definitely BIS which only uses a PIN/IMEI number to determine where to send email. Once you've loaded the service books for ANY BIS account, you'll get the email for ALL email accounts associated with that PIN/IMEI number.

The only way to stop the other email from going to your device is to contact the original owner and ask them to contact their old BlackBerry provider and have the PIN disabled.

The expression "the only way" means there are no other ways.

Actually, there is another way -- but I don't get the impression that komquat would want to go this route. Cancel the data plan and go phone/PIM only.
